Carbon Negative

As a fledgling business we wanted to start on the right foot and do as much as possible. That is why we decided to package our beers in cans (rather than bottles) and also use recycled materials for our labels. We use materials that are as environmentally friendly as possible wherever we can as well as this we are also Carbon Positive💚

We wanted to build in carbon offsetting from the start so it’s part of Jiddler’s Tipple DNA. Consequently, we decided to offset 25% more carbon than Jiddler’s Tipple produces so that we can not only “wipe our face”, but also give something back.

In order to choose high quality offsetting projects we worked with a sustainability consultant. We identified TIST (The International Small Group and Tree Planting Program), one of our partners, as one of the best for two reasons.

Firstly, the carbon credits have been validated and audited so the carbon has already been captured and removed from the atmosphere. Unlike other projects where offsetting is pledged or promised, where you risk it being unfulfilled.

Secondly, the TIST farmers receive 70% of the net profits from the sale of the credits ensuring the money from carbon offsetting is going back to the farmers local economy which significantly helps their standard of living.

Our second wonderful partner is Earthly - they help businesses support high-quality nature-based projects that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods.

Specifically, we have invested in a Highland restoration project in Tigray, Ethiopia. The project assists natural land regeneration through native tree planting. The project invests 60% of carbon credit revenue in the local communities, installing crucial percolation ponds to improve water access and even providing life-saving food assistance during the Tigray War (2020-2022). This is done through purchasing biodiversity and carbon credits; automated nature contributions; or investing in early-stage project origination.
